Hi there, I’m Josh Morgan, and I’m proud to be serving as the 65th Mayor of London, Ontario. I’ve called this city home for nearly thirty years, beginning in 1998 when I moved here to study economics and political science at the University of Western Ontario. During those first weeks exploring the city, I fell in love with this place, and I never left! I knew that London was where I wanted to build my life, raise my family, and invest in this community that has given me so much.
I’m the first in my family to attend university, and that opportunity has helped to shape everything that followed: my commitment to public service, my belief in the importance of strong local leadership and advocacy, and my dedication to making London a better place to live for everyone who calls it home.
Why is that important to me? Because so much of what I’ve achieved, from completing my degrees at Western to being elected as your Ward 7 councillor, serving as Budget Chair and Deputy Mayor, and ultimately being elected Mayor in 2022, has come down to one thing: the trust that Londoners have given me. I will never take that for granted, and I’ll continue to work to earn them every day in office by making thoughtful and responsible decisions for our city.
I’ve always believed our city was special. Its neighbourhoods, diversity, schools and small businesses, and the energy that comes when people come together to solve problems are things other cities aspire to. London demonstrates those virtues every single day, and putting that sense of community at the heart of how we govern is what I believe serves us best at the civic level. The people of this city are passionate not only about helping our city thrive, but each other, and my time as Mayor has been focused on ensuring that is reflected by your local government. I believe in open leadership that puts listening, learning, and working with residents at the forefront to tackle the issues that matter most.
During my time as Mayor, I’m proud of how we’ve taken on big challenges in ways that reflect our values. During a housing and affordability crisis that stretched nationwide, we’ve consistently broken records to add new homes for Londoners and drive down prices for renters and first-time homebuyers. We’ve worked closely with other orders of government to support our most vulnerable and fight homelessness, providing the model for the province’s new HART Hub system and building Micro-Modular Shelters that deliver safety, stability and hope to occupants. We’ve also strengthened our partnerships to foster growth and opportunity, advancing our Mobility Master Plan to make our city more connected and accessible for everyone. Throughout my time serving the public so far, I’ve been truly grateful for how people across London continue to step up and be heard on behalf of their neighbours and their city.
But there’s more work ahead. My focus continues to be on building an inclusive, resilient London where families can afford to live, where neighbourhoods are safe and a source of pride, where we work as one to lift up those who need it most, and where every voice has a place at the table. As your Mayor, I’m committed to serving with integrity, optimism, and a belief that when we listen to one another and work together, London can and will be a city that faces up to challenges, seizes opportunities, and leads our province and nation where it matters most.
